OUTREACH
The project’s outreach plan will build on the public interest generated by the telecasts and screenings and benefit from collaboration with national and regional partners. NGOs, government organizations and other outreach partners will coordinate programs and activities with local community organizations that will engage young and old in activities based learning.
The Edens Lost & Found project currently has over 150 national outreach partners. These include: NCSE, Chicago Wilderness, U.S. EPA, Illinois Audubon Society, Center for Neighborhood Technologies, Close-up Foundation, National Parks Alliance, TreePeople, Center for Healthy Aging, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Earth Force, Philadelphia Green and others. Interested organizations and agencies are encouraged to join the list of partners by applying online. There is no expense to join. These outreach partners will work within their communities to raise awareness about urban environmental issues and promote the use of Edens Lost & Found as a stimulous and guide for greater civic participation and conservation.
PROJECT EVALUATION
Quantitative Evaluation: Quantitative measures regarding the television broadcasts will rely on carriage reports from PBS. Because the programming has been granted “common carriage”, it is assured of significant simultaneous promotion by all major PBS affiliates, across the country. The producers will also carefully monitor and evaluate carriage by PBS affiliates in smaller markets with respect to the time spent promoting the series by those affiliate stations, the households and demographics reached, and any other anecdotal data that helps determine how future promotion and distribution might be improved. In addition, outreach partners, publishers, dvd distributors and other partners will provide ongoing reporting on demand for the educational and video materials created.
Qualitative Evaluation: Qualitative methods will include a number of strategies. The producers will solicits comments from participating PBS affiliate stations and uses this feedback to improve future episodes of the series.
